    the mythological origins of the Olympics
    the representation of the Olympics in film (Leni Riefenstahl, Kon Ichikawa)
    political context/dimension of the Olympics
    a critique of Olympics/the spectacle of sport - is it, like Marx said of religion, an 'opium of the people'?

    I'm sure there are many other possible ways to look at the subject as well as these.
